The teaching approach used by MusicTree is derived from “Music Learning Theory” as developed and researched by Dr. Edwin Gordon. For more information about Music Learning Theory go to: http://www.giml.org/mlt_earlychildhood.php Music Learning Theory/ Early Childhood FAQs Why does the instructor sing
some songs without words? Children
are encouraged at an early age to concentrate on verbal interaction. When words are combined with music, the words
can often be a distraction. When songs are presented without words, children can
focus solely on the music. Do I participate too? Yes! You are the best model for your child. Your participation will encourage his/her
participation. Let go and have fun! Why is movement so important? Movement is a natural response to music.
By guiding children's movement to music, they learn to coordinate
their bodies with what they hear. This step is fundamental to rhythmic understanding. Why do some of the songs
and chants sound so unusual to me?
