Information:
Don Walker was born in 1941 in Ventura, California and recieved a Ph.D. in Composition from the University of California, Berkeley. He has taught at tthe Univeristy of California, Sonoma State University, the University of South Florida and Oregon State University. He has composed over 100 works which have been awared many prizes. His esthetic stems from the example of Charles Ives. He generally rejected the pure use of abstraction and post-Webernian serialism and has embraced all styles and techniques.
There is some wonderful music here by an American composer who embraced Ives, yet works in that composer's eclectic world mixing material and procedures from jazz, ethnic and popular musics.
