At the age of 24, she was already a principal soloist with the Frankfurt Opera
House, where she stayed for five seasons. She has starred regularly at the Israel
Opera House, where her roles included Norina, Olympia, Pamina, Cleopatra and many
more. In 2002, the Israeli critics voted her "Opera Singer of the Year.” She has
appeared in Europe, Japan and the U.S. in operas, song recitals and as a soloist
with orchestras. Recently, she sang in Handel's "Amadigi di Gaula" at the Handel
Festspiele in Halle, Germany, and with Al Ayre Español in Spain. She also sang
Mozart concert arias with the Deutsche Kammerorchester under the baton of Dan
Ettinger at the Berlin Philharmonic hall, and recorded Handel's “Floridante” with
the Complesso Barocco and Alan Curtis, for Deutsche Gramophon/Archiv. She has
performed the part of Agilea in Handel's "Teseo", in Potsdam, Bayreuth, London
and Oxford. This production was released on DVD by Arthaus. Jonathan Zak, one
of Israel’s leading pianists, has performed as soloist with all of Israel's major
orchestras and appeared as soloist and recitalist both in Israel and abroad. He
was one of the founders of the world renowned "Yuval" Trio, with whom he toured
worldwide for over 25 years. The trio recorded for Deutsche Gramophone, CBS Masterworks
and others. Mr. Zak is appearing now with Irena Friedland as a successful piano
duo. Their recent recordings for "Roméo Records" were highly praised in the major
music periodicals in the U.S. and Europe. This disc is the fruit of a longstanding
collaboration between Sharon Rostorf-Zamir and Jonathan Zak.
