ClassiQuest is happy to offer the newestt recording in Barbara Nissman's transversal of the great piano music of the Romantics. Here she begins her transversal of the music of Rachmaninov.

As with other recordings she has recently made on Pierian, Ms. Nissman states that a recording should capture the unique musical experience that takes place between the performer and the imagined audience. What one hears on this disc is what one would have heard had they been seated with Barbara on stage of the recital hall at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh - in this case recorded in July of 2006. The sound and rich colors of the beautiful new Steinway have not been technologically altered. She hopes the moment of making music has been captured and directly communicated to the hearts of the listeners.
This recording features no compression or post recording processing, techniques which are often done to facilitate conservative listening levels. To get the best results, according to the producers, it is suggested to listen at a volume level approximating the amplitude one might experience seated a few feet away from the piano.
