Information: Concerts
at Carmel, the acclaimed recital series hosted by Carmel Presbyterian Church in
Glenside, Pennsylvania – considered to be one of the region's most acoustically
outstading venues for chamber music – celebrates its tenth season with the release
of Illuminations, a CD showcasing four outstanding performances from the series
performed by some of Pennsylvania's finest musicians, including members of the
Philadelphia Orchestra. The orchestra's principal clarinetist, Ricardo Morales,
performs Brahms's Clarinet Quintet with the Wister Quartet (also members of the
Philadelphia Orchestra). Also featured is the recording permiere of Stephen Mager's
Illuminations performed by soprano Janice Fiore, piccolo virtuoso Lois Bliss Herbine,
and harpist Sophie Bruno Labiner. Two major American organists, Nathan Laube and
Michael Stairs, perform works by Daniel Barta and Olivier Messiaen, demonstrating
the capabilities of the Carmel Presbyterian Church Organ. All of the music has
been recorded by renowned producer-engineer Bob Sellman, whose Direct-to-Tape
CDs define the state of the audiophile art. | ||
