Avie
continues their new series with the Northern Sinfonia with the first commercial
recording to be made at the spectacular Sage Gateshead, the landmark waterfront
venue on Tyneside. In residence at the Sage Gateshead since its opening in 2004,
the award-winning Northern Sinfonia's dynamic approach to programmes, performances
and recordings have earned them plaudits aplenty.
Pianist Imogen Cooper has
a widespread international career as a concerto soloist, chamber musician and
recital artist. Cooper and the Northern Sinfonia follow up their successful first
release on Avie – Mozart's Piano Concertos Nos.9 and 23 – with this new recording
of two of Mozart’s late masterpieces, Concertos Nos.24 and 25. The Fantasia in
d minor, K397 for solo piano completes the disc.
