Vasily Petrenko, the 31-year-old Russian maestro who took over a year ago as principal conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in a surprise decision, triumphed at the 2007 Gramophone Awards where he was honored as Young Artist of the Year. Avie is pleased to release Maestro Petrenko's second recording with the RLPO in a program of selections from the three major ballets of Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky – Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker.
